What kind of fabrics do you sell?

Heidi’s Den sell high quality, carefully selected designer fabrics that are 100% cotton. These fabrics are suitable for most sewing projects including dress making, soft toys, quilting, home & fashion accessories and patchworking. Please note however these fabrics are not of upholstery weight. If you are unsure as to the suitability of the fabric for your needs then please pop us an email to enquiries@heidisden.co.uk explaining your requirements and what are you are making and we will do our best to advise.

What size fabrics are available?

Heidi’s Den sell fabrics in FQ, Half Metre and Metre measurements, something to suit everyone!

What is a Fat Quarter (FQ)

An FQ is a measurement of fabric that is commonly used in quilting and sewing. You cut half a metre of fabric and then cut this piece in half again to create your FQ. One FQ measures approximately 50 x 56 cm including the selvedge.

Can I purchase in multiple units or other sizes?

It is possible to purchase multiple FQ measurements of the same fabric. Multiple FQ purchases of the same fabric will be sent as one continuous piece wherever for example:

  • 2 x FQ units =  approx 50 x 112 cm, inclu. selvedge.
  • 3 x FQ units = approx 75 x 112cm, inclu. selvedge. 
  • 4 x FQ units = approx 100 x 112cm, inclu. selvedge. 

However for larger cuts of fabric we would advise you purchase instead by the Half Metre, or Metre measurements, again multiple purchases in these measurements will also be sent as one continuous piece unless you contact us otherwise. If you require a specific cut of fabric please email: enquiries@heidisden.co.uk and we will do our best to accommodate.

The maximum width of most of our fabrics is approx 112cm (44 inches) and will include a selvedge on both sides if you order a Half Metre or Metre cut.

 When will I receive my order?

We aim to dispatch all orders within 2 working days and strive to always provide a quick and efficient service. All orders received are dispatched using Royal Mail First Class Service (typically 1-2 working days).

Orders over £20 will be sent using a tracked service.

Large orders will be sent by a courier where required and take 3-4 working days. You will be contacted directly with details reqarding this.

We are also happy to ship to Europe as required using Royal Mail Airmail. If you live overseas please contact us directly for a shipping quote.

If you are waiting to receive your order and have any concerns please contact us (enquiries@heidisden.co.uk) so we can check on the delivery status for you. We are always on hand to assist!

How are payments processed?

All  transactions are handled through our secure  payment services provider  PayPal.  You can review the PayPal privacy policy at www.paypal.com.  We will share information with PayPal only to the extent necessary for the purposes of processing payments you make via our website, or for refunding payments. Financial details from website transactions made with debit/credit cards will not be stored by Heidi’s Den as this is handled by the payment service provider (PayPal)

Please note if you pay via Paypal and there is not enough money in your account, Paypal will take funds from your nominated bank account. This results in payment being made by ‘echeque’ which can sometimes take 2-3weeks to clear. Your order will be sent upon clearance of the ‘echeque’.

What if I don’t have a paypal account?

Even if you don’t have a Paypal account you will be able to process your order via the Paypal payment screen using your credit or debit card.

Can I return an item?

If you would like to return a purchase you have made then please notify us within 14 days to enquiries@heidisden.co.uk . Goods must be returned in their original condition and when received we will refund back to you the costs of the goods and outbound postage..

Please note that you will be responsible for the costs of returning the items, and safe delivery, we therefore advise a tracked postage service.

We are unable to accept returns of fabric that have been cut or washed, so please check carefully before use!

In the unlikely event of there being a fault with your fabric we will cover all costs of postage and will either refund or exchange the goods.  Ensure that for any returns you provide your name, address and contact details so we can easily identify your order details.

Fabric Care – would you advise I wash the fabric before using it?

This is a personal preference but we would suggest you prewash if you are using different fabrics and materials on your project as this will help prevent any shrinkage or possible running of colours.  We recommend washing your fabric at 30 degrees (using a mild detergent).
